Tauranga, Mount Maunganui and the Western Bay of Plenty
Salt off the harbour, orchard spray and dust from the port build up fast on Tauranga roofs, and gulls and mynas nesting underneath make it worse. We clean with pure water, check the whole system while we’re up there, and send you a report with before and after photos.
Two quick steps. No obligation.
Last step. Takes about 20 seconds.

From our Tauranga job sheets
Taken from our job records for Tauranga and the Western Bay, January 2023 to now. Tauranga is our home patch and our busiest area by a long way.
Pine pollen coats Tauranga panels from about August, and a lot of customers ask us to wait until it has dropped. Pollen comes up in the notes on 40 Tauranga jobs, and October is when the diary fills.
84 of 574 Tauranga cleans. That’s the lowest rate of anywhere we work, about half what we see in Auckland and Rotorua.
Mesh fitted around arrays across Tauranga and the Western Bay since 2023, to stop birds nesting under the panels.
Pyes Pā (3112) is our busiest by far, then Papamoa Beach (3118), Bethlehem (3110) and Welcome Bay (3112).
What you get
The same three steps on every Tauranga job, from a small array on a family home to a full commercial roof.
Before anything gets wet we look over the panels, wiring, mounts and inverter, and flag anything that’s going to cost you later.
Deionised water through soft brushes on water-fed poles. No chemicals and no water-blasting, so nothing that could harm the glass or the seals.
A written report on how your system is doing, with before and after photos so you can see exactly what came off.
Most homes take about an hour. Lichen treatment or bird proofing can be done on the same visit.
5-star Google reviews
“Extremely happy with Eco Shine! My panels are as good as new. They are the ultimate professionals - great communication, cleaning, reports and photos. They are my go to solar panel cleaners.”
“Excellent service. Have been using Eco Shine for the cleaning of my solar panels for 10 years, and will continue to use them. This time they also cleaned the gutters. Would highly recommend the team.”
“Thank you for such an excellent, professional job. Edwin, our technician, was very knowledgeable about our solar system and gave a full verbal report as well as the photographic report.”
Ben shows how we clean a residential solar system, from setting up our pure water system to going through our maintenance check and outlining a couple of common issues we see impacting your solar system’s output. After this clean, we saw a 21% increase in system output.
Who turns up
Eco Shine Solar is owned and run by three brothers, Edwin, Sam and Ben, born and raised in the Bay of Plenty.
Before solar we represented New Zealand in beach volleyball, picking up a bronze at the Commonwealth Games. We’ve brought the same work ethic from the sand to the roofs, cleaning solar since 2017.
Every job is done by our own team, with pure-water gear and a written report at the end.

Most homes take about an hour. Bigger systems, two-storey roofs and lichen treatment take longer, and we’ll tell you roughly how long when we quote.
Yes. We work Tauranga and the wider Western Bay of Plenty on the same runs, including Omokoroa, Te Puke, Katikati, Waihi Beach, Maketu and Te Puna. Ask for a quote and we’ll fit you into the next run through your area.
Yes. Kiwifruit and avocado orchards ring the city, and spray drift and pollen build up on panels fast through the growing season. Combined with salt off the harbour and the Mount beaches, it creates a film that scatters light before it reaches the cells. A pure-water clean lifts it without scratching the panels.
Yes, and the payoff is bigger here than in most places. Tauranga gets around 2,250 sun hours a year, so every percent of output lost to a dirty panel costs you more than it would somewhere greyer. We’ve seen output improve by up to 30% on some systems we’ve cleaned.
Tell us roughly how many panels and storeys. We’ll come back with a price, usually the same day. Phones answered 7 days.

We cover Tauranga city and the wider Western Bay of Plenty on the same run, including Omokoroa, Te Puke, Katikati, Waihi Beach, Maketu and Te Puna. Tauranga roofs give us three recurring problems: salt off the harbour and the Mount beaches, orchard spray and pollen through the growing season, and fine dust from the port around Mount Maunganui and Matapihi. All three need a pure-water clean rather than a rinse to come off properly.
