Who turns up
Eco Shine Solar is owned and run by three brothers, Edwin, Sam and Ben, born and raised in the Bay of Plenty.
Before solar we represented New Zealand in beach volleyball, picking up a bronze at the Commonwealth Games. We’ve brought the same work ethic from the sand to the roofs, cleaning solar since 2017.

Rain doesn’t clean solar panels properly on its own, it mostly just moves fine volcanic dust around the glass. Pumice dust blows across the central plateau year round and settles into a film, especially after wind off the dry country to the south. A pure-water clean is what actually lifts it.
Yes. We’ve seen output improve by up to 30% on some systems we’ve cleaned, and pumice dust is one of the main reasons Taupō panels lose output between cleans. Winter woodsmoke from log burners around the township adds a greasy film on top of that. Clearing both lets the panels convert as much sun as they’re designed to.
