Napier, Hastings and the wider Hawke’s Bay
Dust off the plains, spring pollen from the orchards and vineyards, and birds nesting under the array all build up fast under Hawke’s Bay sun. We clean with pure water, check the whole system while we’re up there, and send you a report with before and after photos.
Two quick steps. No obligation.
Last step. Takes about 20 seconds.

PrequalifiedHealth and safetyReal jobs around Hawke's Bay
Every one of these is a real Hawke's Bay job, photographed by our techs on the day. Lichen, dust and bird mess don’t rinse off. They come off with pure water, soft brushes and a bit of patience.

From our Hawke's Bay job sheets
Taken from our Hawke’s Bay job records, 2025 to now.
22 of 56 Hawke’s Bay cleans, the highest rate of any area we work regularly. Dark spots or a crusty edge along the bottom of a panel are usually lichen.
7 of 56, second only to the Bay of Islands. One Twyford roof had so many nests that we recommended bird proofing straight away.
Customers in Haumoana, Tamatea and Hastings have all described pollen caked onto their panels, often on the lower half where rain runs it down and leaves it.
Flaxmere (4120) and Haumoana (4180) lead, then Clive (4102), Taradale and Greenmeadows (4112) and Havelock North (4130).
What you get
The same three steps on every Hawke's Bay job, from a small array on a family home to a full commercial roof.
Before anything gets wet we look over the panels, wiring, mounts and inverter, and flag anything that’s going to cost you later.
Deionised water through soft brushes on water-fed poles. No chemicals and no water-blasting, so nothing that could harm the glass or the seals.
A written report on how your system is doing, with before and after photos so you can see exactly what came off.
Most homes take about an hour. Lichen treatment or bird proofing can be done on the same visit.

“Thank you for such an excellent, professional job. Edwin, our technician, was very knowledgeable about our solar system and gave a full verbal report as well as the photographic report.”
“Solar panel cleaning. Job well done! Great communication. Professional service. Value for money. They did everything they said they would, no fuss, on time, as quoted”
“Excellent service. Have been using Eco Shine for the cleaning of my solar panels for 10 years, and will continue to use them… Would highly recommend the team at Eco Shine Solar Panel Cleaning.”
Ben shows how we clean a residential solar system, from setting up our pure water system to going through our maintenance check and outlining a couple of common issues we see impacting your solar system’s output. After this clean, we saw a 21% increase in system output.
Who turns up
Eco Shine Solar is owned and run by three brothers, Edwin, Sam and Ben, born and raised in the Bay of Plenty.
Before solar we represented New Zealand in beach volleyball, picking up a bronze at the Commonwealth Games. We’ve brought the same work ethic from the sand to the roofs, cleaning solar since 2017.
Every job is done by our own team, with pure-water gear and a written report at the end.

Areas we cover
We work Napier, Hastings and the surrounding Hawke’s Bay towns on the same runs, so being out of town doesn’t mean waiting longer.
Not on the list? Ask us. Chances are we’re nearby that week.
Most systems do well with a clean every 12 to 18 months. Dustier or rural properties often need it more often, and we’ll tell you roughly when you’re due when we quote.
Yes. We work Napier and Hastings and the surrounding towns on the same runs, including Havelock North, Clive, Haumoana, Te Awanga, Bridge Pā, Puketapu, Poukawa and Eskdale. Ask for a quote and we’ll fit you into the next run through your area.
Yes. Spring brings heavy pollen from the orchards and vineyards around Napier and Hastings, and it binds with overnight dew into a sticky film that rain alone won’t shift. Left on the glass it scatters light before it reaches the cells. A pure-water clean lifts it without scratching the panel coating.
Yes, especially through spring when orchard and vineyard pollen is heaviest. We’ve seen output improve by up to 30% on some systems we’ve cleaned, since a pollen or dust film stops panels converting as much sun into power. It also catches lichen early on shaded, south-facing arrays before it etches in.
Tell us roughly how many panels and storeys. We’ll come back with a price, usually the same day. Phones answered 7 days.

We cover Napier and Hastings and the wider Hawke’s Bay on the same run, including Havelock North, Clive, Haumoana, Te Awanga, Bridge Pā, Puketapu, Poukawa and Eskdale. Hawke’s Bay roofs give us two recurring problems: fine dust off the plains through the dry months, and heavy spring pollen from the orchards and vineyards that bonds into a sticky film overnight. Both need a pure-water clean rather than a rinse.
