Auckland, Manukau and the towns to the south
Salt off two harbours, traffic film from the motorways and Auckland’s humidity all build up fast on an isthmus roof, and mynas nesting under the array make it worse. We clean with pure water, check the whole system while we’re up there, and send you a report with before and after photos.
Two quick steps. No obligation.
Last step. Takes about 20 seconds.

Every one of these is a real Auckland job, photographed by our techs on the day. Salt film, traffic grime and bird mess don’t rinse off in the rain. They come off with pure water, soft brushes and a bit of patience.

From our Auckland job sheets
Taken from our Auckland job records, January 2023 to now: what was on the roofs, what else needed doing, and where we work most.
105 of 343 Auckland cleans, twice the rate we see in Tauranga. It’s the main reason a first clean in Auckland takes longer than a repeat one.
Customers in Mount Roskill, Hillsborough, Point Chevalier, Glen Eden, Botany Downs and Papatoetoe have all called us about pigeons roosting or nesting under their panels. Mesh around the edge of the array keeps them out.
Plenty of Auckland customers get a roof treatment or gutter clear done on the same visit, since we’re already up there with the gear.
Henderson (0612), Titirangi (0604) and Mount Wellington (1060) top the list, with Pōkeno (2402) and Papakura (2110) busy in the south.
What you get
The same three steps on every Auckland job, from a small array on a family home to a full commercial roof.
Before anything gets wet we look over the panels, wiring, mounts and inverter, and flag anything that’s going to cost you later.
Deionised water through soft brushes on water-fed poles. No chemicals and no water-blasting, so nothing that could harm the glass or the seals.
A written report on how your system is doing, with before and after photos so you can see exactly what came off.
Most homes take about an hour. Lichen treatment or bird proofing can be done on the same visit.

“Very pleased with the work done by Ecoshine Solar. However the best part was the communication prior to the work being done. Even introduced us to the workers doing our job and their qualifications…”
“I can not recommend the team at Eco Shine highly enough. From their ongoing communication to the quality of their workmanship and professional attitude I can see why they are so highly regarded by so many.…”
“Great work, I didn’t need to be home, supplied before and after photos. Booked and completed within 2 weeks. Thankyou.”
Ben shows how we clean a residential solar system, from setting up our pure water system to going through our maintenance check and outlining a couple of common issues we see impacting your solar system’s output. After this clean, we saw a 21% increase in system output.
Who turns up
Eco Shine Solar is owned and run by three brothers, Edwin, Sam and Ben, born and raised in the Bay of Plenty.
Before solar we represented New Zealand in beach volleyball, picking up a bronze at the Commonwealth Games. We’ve brought the same work ethic from the sand to the roofs, cleaning solar since 2017.
Every job is done by our own team, with pure-water gear and a written report at the end.

Yes. Auckland has the densest myna population in the country, and they nest in the warm gap under panels. Droppings create hot spots that can damage cells over time, and nesting material blocks the airflow the array needs. We check for this on every clean and can mesh the gaps as a bird proofing add-on if birds have moved in.
Not on its own. Westerlies carry salt well inland across the isthmus, and motorway traffic throws up an oily film, and rain just moves both around rather than lifting them off. Left alone they scatter light before it reaches the cells. A pure-water clean is what actually shifts them.

We cover Auckland city and the Franklin towns on the same run, including Pukekohe, Tuakau, Waiuku and Pōkeno. Auckland roofs give us a few recurring problems: salt haze off two harbours, traffic film from the motorways, and mynas nesting under arrays across the city. All three need a pure-water clean rather than a rinse to properly lift.
