Solar Panel Cleaning in Wellington

Wellington’s wind carries salt spray off the harbour and Cook Strait well inland, and hillside sections shaded by trees pick up moss and lichen on their south-facing arrays. We clean with pure water, check the whole system while we’re up there, and send you a report with before and after photos.

Local Knowledge

Why Wellington Panels Need Regular Attention

Here’s what our team regularly deals with across the region.

Wind-Driven Salt Spray

Cook Strait winds carry salt well beyond the coastline. The film scatters light and holds grime against the glass, even on inland suburbs.

Urban Grime & Traffic Film

City particulates settle on panels and bond with moisture into a stubborn layer that rain alone won’t shift.

Bird Droppings

Gulls and pigeons are constant across the region. Droppings create hot spots that damage cells over time and need more than a rinse to clear.

Moss & Shaded South Faces

Hillside sections and bush-lined streets mean shade, and shade means moss and lichen, especially on south-facing arrays.

What you get

Every clean, every time

The same three steps on every Wellington job, from a small array on a family home to a full commercial roof.

01

Safety and system check

Before anything gets wet we look over the panels, wiring, mounts and inverter, and flag anything that’s going to cost you later.

02

Pure-water clean

Deionised water through soft brushes on water-fed poles. No chemicals and no water-blasting, so nothing that could harm the glass or the seals.

03

Report and photos

A written report on how your system is doing, with before and after photos so you can see exactly what came off.

Most homes take about an hour. Lichen treatment or bird proofing can be done on the same visit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Coastal and exposed Wellington systems do best on a 12-month cycle because of salt film. Sheltered inland homes can often stretch to 18 months.

Yes. We service Wellington, the Hutt Valley and Porirua on the same runs. If you’re elsewhere in the wider region, get in touch and we’ll confirm availability.

Yes. Gulls and pigeons are constant across the Wellington region, and their droppings create hot spots that can damage cells over time if left to bake on. It needs more than a rinse to clear properly once it’s there. We check for this on every clean and can mesh the gaps as a bird proofing add-on if birds have moved in under your panels.

We cover Wellington city, the Hutt Valley and Porirua on the same run. Wellington’s exposure to Cook Strait means salt film builds up faster here than in sheltered spots, and shaded hillside sections grow moss and lichen that a rinse won’t touch. Both need a proper pure-water clean, not just a hose down.
